A fine selection of little motifs and a walking fish

Can’t always be doing giant six month embroidery projects. Sometimes you need something simple and quick, but absolutely unique. Maybe funny even. But at least unique.

So here’s a keychain ——————->

The keychain blank was found in an embroidery shop in Baguio, Philippines. Amazing embroidery supplies in the Philippines, in case you were wondering where to go the next time you’re out of needles.

The design is old, from a bible copied in 13th century England. It was found on a pretty darn good tumbler feed called Discarding Images, which serves up a daily offering of tiny drawings made in the margins (well, usually in the margins) of medieval European manuscripts. So, loosely put, LOTS of random doodles. Oddles of doodles. Many of which are perfectly suited to embroidery.

So go check them both, the Philippines and Discarding Images, out.
